J.H.K. is a new solo noise project from Jackson H. Kovalchik, the mind behind CASAS. Currently performing under a variety of monickers and from within multiple project lineups (including recent collaborations with Bob Bellerue), with this project, Kovalchik presents an exploration of sonic spaces generated by a device of his own creation, known as the "Slabdrone."
"A 5'x3.5'x3' slab built ceramic instrument rigged with high powered exciters and piezo contact microphones. The sounds generated are a result of the feedback oscillations produced within the walls of the piece. The instrument is played by gripping the walls of the piece, repositioning of microphones, canceling certain frequencies by using an external equalizer, and by introducing outside audio sources into the feedback loop."
